Go 2 TRAIN!.
I think after this week the robot will really take shape. She’s starting to look very sweet in CAD drawings. We must keep her weight down. We added a good 10 lbs to her when we added that upper deck. She’s a tank but we paid a weight price. The rollers are sweet. Great job on all who are riveting on the tread material. That fiberglass is nasty stuff. I still feel the splinters a bit. They are going to work incredibly well, wait and see. For the upper belts I think we should do what we did in Lunacy. We used double sided timing pulleys and stitched on to them some more of the tread material. And we already have everything we need in terms of pulleys and timing belts. And it’s very light weight. Programmers get ready to do some pretty nifty tracking stuff with the camera. Otherwise our shooter will be playing defense.

We are into our 3rd week! We have done a lot of progress! Tested different shooter! we are so exited for all of you to see it.

Safety First!

As we begin the build season, we encounter more dangerous situations. We are operating different machines and using different tools. Team 395 would like to tell you to please be careful and to please have safety precaution !. Even though competition is very important Safety comes first.

If you get hurt, let one of the mentors know as fast as possible
Check in with your mentors when ever using a tool
Use protective eye gear when ever in the shop
Follow safe use of all tools, and maintain a healthy attitude regarding safety

The new season has already started. With F.I.R.S.T. on its 21st season and 2train Robotics on its 13th season “Rebound Rumble” is the game for the season a game where you have to score foam basket ball into hoops, the team 395 member were brainstorming all day today.

4 days until Kickoff! I hope everyone is excited. We can hardly sleep. FIRST has released encrypted version of the 2012 manual. We can’t wait to watch the Kickoff at Polytechnic and at Columbia and hear the decryption code and all about the game on Saturday morning. “Show-Me” The Train

Coming off the heels of an electrifying and memorable four days in Philadelphia, from the first to the last, the 2Train now prepares for the Championship which is in less than three weeks time in the “Show-Me” state, St. Louis, Missouri! The 2train proved to be formidable competition this entire week in Philly as we made it to the quarterfinals of elimination matches, ending in 5th place, in an impressive showing. At the end, the 2Train took home the award for Team Spirit! As we wrapped up a phenomenal week in Philly, the team now prepares for St. Louis, as there is nothing else left to do but Strategize. We thank the people who came out to support us and we also thank the city of Philadelphia for hosting us!

Preparing for Philly !!

Two days before the team seeks their second regional champion in Philly since 2009, the team has been working diligintly in the days efore heading to philly on wednesday.
Earlier today, the 2train had a bakesale in the Morris Academy campus. The team raised $155 after 40 minutes of selling baked goods.
During the meeting, the team was preparing for Philadelphia as they brainstorming ideas, discussing a few last minute ideas before the weekend. All members of the team participated in something today, working hard before we travel Wednesday afternoon.

Train’s a-comin’ to Philly!

After a phenomenal performance in New York, The 2Train is going to Philadelphia as 2011 New York City Regional Champions!!

The team started out great as we ended undefeated in the qualification matches going into the elimination round. We became the captain of alliance 1 and during alliance selections, we chose Team 527(Red Dragons) and team 359(Hawaiian Kids). In the Quarterfinal matches, we defeated alliance 8, which consisted of teams 3059(Envirobotics), 272(Cyber-Crusaders), and 263(Sachem Aftershock). In the Semi-finals, we defeated Alliance 2 with two wins and one loss. In the finals, we defeated Alliance 3 in two intense matches with the last one ending in a stunning score of 100-43.

With that remarkable victory in New York, we also came home with the Xerox Creativity Award, and Bob Stark taking home the Woodie Flowers Award.

Thanks to all that came out to support the team, with the shouting, scouting, cheering and dancing, and also manning the pit. And we also want to thank the mentors and the sponsors; this was a great win. We now have one week to prepare for the Philadelphia Regional Apr. 6-9, and less than four weeks to prepare for the Championships in St. Louis, April 27-30. We hope to see you guys there!!

THE FINAL MATCH FROM NY !!

2Train Book Drive

As a team we decided to collect as many books as we can. We asked our family, friends, and neighbors. The more we collected the better it was for us students and the poor. As a team we collected over 1,000 books and donated them to a cafe in lower Manhattan, where they were donated and then sold. All the proceeds went to the homeless and people with AIDS. Whom ever donated the most books won movie tickets. It was a challenge for some students that created a friendly competition.

The 2011 kick-off brainstorming has begun!
